This virtual reality (VR) training experience was created to take mine workers on a journey through a variety of tasks requiring them to perform work at heights. They would conduct the training as a group within an immersive theatre environment as led by a trainer. The group would need to firstly select the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for performing work at heights tasks. Then they could choose from a variety of activities that involved an elevated work component. The group would have to answer pop-up questions that related to the task, such as setting up the work environment, what equipment to use, who would need to be notified, etc. It the incorrect answers were selected then the group would be presented with a simulation of the consequences that could arise under those conditions.
