How much is technology shaping the mining industry? It turns out a lot. To showcase the range of technologies being incorporated into socially and environmentally friendly mining we worked with the School of Minerals and Energy Resources Engineering at UNSW to create a fun mobile game.
MineTech Island takes you on a journey through the life of a mystical lithium mine and lets you upgrade your operation with cutting edge technology to improve efficiency. Once the mining operation is complete your mission to launch a space mining fleet begins, followed by sending a colony rocket to Mars!
We are excited by how this game turned out. We love the mix of simple 3D and the style of the game, inspired by idle and simulation games. The interaction was kept to basic tapping gestures and on-screen menus to reduce the learning curve for users as it is intended to be a quick, single-play experience. The storytelling is meant to be fun but primarily educational for the target audience of high school students.
